About
As part of my training in arts-based therapy, I collaborated with the Mariposa Foundation, a Mumbai-based NGO supporting children with multiple disabilities. This led to the creation of Miles to Mariposa—a photobook I co-authored, photographed, and designed from start to finish.
The book tells the inspiring story of Sejal Shah, who founded Mariposa after her daughter, born without vision and multiple challenges, was denied access to mainstream schools. It documents her journey from mother to changemaker, and celebrates the inclusive, vibrant space she created for over 40 children.
All visuals are my original photography, capturing therapy sessions, festivals, and everyday life at the center. I handled creative direction, layout, photo editing, and visual narrative—designing a piece that reflects Mariposa’s values of dignity, resilience, and joy.
More than a design project, this was an immersive experience in empathy and healing. Today, the photobook serves as a powerful tool for fundraising and awareness for the foundation.
